Methane Detection Features
Applications
Leak detection and emission monitoring tasks, such as natural gas line surveys, tank inspections, inspections of pipes, under bridges, landfill emission monitoring, gas well testing, plant safety audits.
Gas Leak Detection
The concept is based on Infrared Absorption Spectroscopy.
A laser light in the spectral range of 1,65 μmis emitted.
The laser light is reflected at the background and captured back inthe instrument.
The outgoing and incoming signals are compared with a built-in reference cell.
A Gas Leak Detected
If there is methane gas present along the laser path, the laser light is partially absorbed.
An algorithm calculates the gas concentration in ppm*m (parts per million multiplied by meter).
Positive Results
A laser light in the spectral range of 1,65 μmis emitted.
